I just see this turning into a farce.

Already we all seem to assume that we have to have the one which bolts to the axle bearing housing, from what I can see it only specifies the material and that it has to be lateral to the brake disc and lower than the disc.

At scrutineering they check your kart and you have a bit of plastic which protrudes lower than the disc, but its a home made design, meets the spec but will it be allowed, how do you prove that the material is legal, are the scutineers going to have samples to check against.

Sat on the grid for the final, the scutineer comes up and says its worn, change it or you dont race. worse still they check after every heat and potentially, you may have to change the protector three times during a race meeting. At Ł10 a time for the plastic inserts, that starts to add up.

The question was asked a few months ago, just how many discs have broken and caused a serious accident because the brakes failed. Is this an over reaction by the MSA.
