Firstly, depending on what your lads are like, they may not respond to tuition from someone they dont know. Personally, I prefer to walk the track with my dad. He can't get within 3 seconds a lap of my times, but by walking the track with him (even after 11 years) he can point something out which, when I try, can gain me a few tenths of a second!!! Just bear this in mind before emptying your wallet!
6 seconds in a day is blinding improvement!!! And if its only his second half day in the kart and he's under ten seconds off the pace, he's doing well!!
Over the next six months, look to see the pair of them get to within two/three seconds (or another way of looking at it, competitive with the back end of a club grid). Because if/when you put them into clubbies, they will learn so much more than they ever will on practice days!!
Let them continue testing for a few more months. As I said, when they get to a point where their times would see them with the tail end of a club grid, think about putting them into a race. You will very quickly see them improving much quicker once they're racing!
