i wouldnt say your having problems with the gillard i would say your tyre temps are wrong ie the rear drifting round the corner.

with warming the tyres unless your in a f1 car and you can spin the rears you wont warm your tyres by pressing the throttle on and off also by continously pushing the throttle on and off your most likely causing fuel surges causing the engine to cut out with to much or to little fuel being put in to the motor.
all you have to do to warm the tyres is gradualy applying throtal while weaving the kart obviously don't weave in front of on coming karts
