YouTube have a new membership feature for larger channels like ours, where content can be produced and viewed by members only. This can include livestream shows (Jake Sanson and I were discussing doing regular bi-weekly kart show live) or specific videos produced for members only to view. This could be specific club type events we film for members only. I believe members can dip in and out each month but need to clarify how that is done. This could potentially be a new way to fund karting content in that it would effectively become a subscription channel for karting.
At this stage it's just a thought. You can set three membership levels and access according to what was being viewed, so perhaps a Kart Show Live Magazine type show with me and Jake doing a midweek show, maybe Thursday evenings twice a month would probably be set at a level 1 price around about a printed magazine cost of £12.99 per month, (Karting Magazine would probably be around £5 for a printed copy if sold today). Youtube take 36% inc taxes from each membership so take that into account.
Please go to my TDi Media facebook page to take part in the poll.
I expect there to be a ton of "what... pay money..... no thx" naysayers..... who would pay that for printed magazines every month if still available without thinking about it...... However......Whilst there may be 2,000 people who are not interested, if 50 people are, then it would something we would pursue and get started in the next 6-8 weeks.
