I believe that the tracks need to address some of the issues they have created by designing or modifying their track to often suit their own purposes, rather than that of pure racing need.
I'm sure Whilton Mill had no idea when they took out the 'kitty litter' and replaced it with a beautiful, long, flat concrete runway, that cameras would subsequently be used to dish out penalties like speeding fines to every transgressors!
If track limits are to be truly respected, design the TRACK to penalise the driver by building in features that give no benefit for exceeding them.
I'm not keen on the jargon some officials use, 'track limits are track limits' and 'you're gaining an advantage'. We want to see drivers racing to THEIR limit, not driving within their capabilities for fear of post race penalties. As long as the tracks are designed well there should be no real racing advantage in minor track limit transgressions(there are corners at Rowrah and Fulbeck for example you would be wasting your time monitoring with cameras!).
I think corners like the last corners at Whilton, PFi and Llandow, to name but a few, should be regarded more as track issues than driver issues.
ALL drivers, at ALL levels, of ALL motorsports, want to be driving at the limit ALL THE TIME.
We have raced in a series that has been somewhat anal at times on this subject. It quite frankly spoiled a number of meetings unnecessary, in my opinion.
