Honda cadet was introduced as a low cost/minnow/ beginner alternative to Comer S60 cadet,probably still says so in the regs somewhere.

Some took advantage of the variations in the production engines to buy success for their offspring. Hence 20 years of bickering over engine eligibility.Not mirrored in Comer or subsequently IAME cadet classes.

I have always taken the view that Honda cadet should be a club racing class without the expensive ' kudos' of S1 etc. Those with the budget to choose should be in IAME . After all Honda 4/ is a dead end engine wise in the karting system.

Exceptions would be for absolute beginners both driver and ' engineer' where the simplicity of operation of the Honda allows the driver to concentrate on the driving cf. the 2/. and for those rare individuals who would take advantage of the knowledge and skills to be gained by building their own engines.
