I understand it is now mainly in parity of the 2018 barrels which now have more CNC work in them to make them more equal.
Apparently the 2018 barrel should be equal to a 'good' prevo.
I heard before the 2018 barrel you could test 10 barrels and 2 might be better than the rest. Now the 2018 barrels 8 are equally good and 2 maybe an edge off but very close.
I know someone who tested 6 2018 barrels at their engine builder and found next to nothing in them. One had a very slight edge mid and top end, but it was next to nothing and they had to pick one barrel so picked that one.
They then did very well at a super one round doing fastest laps and putting it on front row.
This was with all the ancillaries that came with the engine, no selected coil, ecu, exhaust, carb.
So it all suggests much better in terms of parity.
Time will tell. also very good prevos will still be just that and maybe still beat current evos.
