I bought the W5's to try just as an experiment really as some came up for a reasonable price. I think the rules are set like this to allow anyone to makes use of any available tyres but they still have to have more than 2mm on them. There is a lot to choose from off ebay but you only get a few races out of them and then have the problem of disposing of them again.
With limited use a new set could last the year at least which is why I am considering getting some rather than another almost worn out used ones.
