Best place for MSA Medical and ECG?

I was a little surprised to discover my 13 year old child needs a medical and ecg test to get a licence upgrade to allow him to do the Iame winter cup.
At first I assumed this would be, nip into the local doctors, a few tick boxes, about medical history and that would be it. On reading the notes, there's a bit more than that inc. an eye test and an ECG.
A quick google brings up several private clinics happy to take my money. Is that where people go or can it be done through the local gp surgery?
Any advice or recommendation will be much appreciated.
