Not all tracks run IKR meetings so if you want to race locally then MSA could be the only option.
With MSA you have consistency and a rule book and so you know that when you race at different tracks it will be with the same tyres, engines etc.
If there was no MSA in karting then would you have any class regulations regarding engine specs etc.
IKR works very well and is perhaps the way all club meetings should run (no appeals to stewards or msa court) and just have the full-blown MSA for national championships.
