The point here being of course that Paul Fletcher doesn't actually need to be in touch with "grass roots" karting. It's not his bread and butter, and neither to a certain extent is it to John Mills. That's why the partnership for the two of them has been so profitable at PFI. Outside of Lincs and the surrounding area, the number of x30 on a grid is far smaller. So if you want to race x30, you go to PFI, and if you want x30 kit, you go to PFI. The money rolls in for Fletcher and Mills, and they're happy.
Compare that now to Rotax and TKM, which have a pretty healthy second hand scene etc, numbers are generally on the rise at most circuits outside of the PFI catchment area, buoyed by those who are using it in IKR and at "grass roots" level.
The problem would be, of course, if some of the manufacturers or circuit owners had a stronger voice at Motorsport House than others. Now that WOULD be bad for grassroots MSA karting....
