Thanks for the above advice, I found out a good friend of mine knew a chap whos son races at Forest Edge (My Nearest Track).
I went and spoke to him and he advised going straight into the Cadet Kart as he seen my son was quite tall. He also advised against buying off ebay due to the unknown and went on a search withing the club for a kart for sale.
I have today picked up a 2014 Zip Cadet Kart with a RPM GX160 T2 thats only done 3 hours from new (He said its not the quckest but good enough for starting) Also lots of spares, kart stand, Mychron 4 and lots of little bits that will help me get started out.
Sat my lad in it tonight and he reaches the pedals fine and seemed to be the right size. I will restrict it to start with and get him out for some training.
Now im enetring the mine field of what helmet and suit to buy.
