As I have just retired as a Technical Comm. and International Scrutineer I am now free to comment. Most clubs pay Ł35 to Ł50 per day depending on wether you are Chief scrut or one of the team.
Out of this you pay your own milage,get your own food and find your own bed.
Start at 0700 finish at 1700, if you are not involved in a protest.
A good scrut. is usually a good mechanic,daily rate Ł150+ a day +food +hotel No abuse from competitors,Can you wonder there is a shortage of good scruts.
A trainee scrut gets no cash at all.
This is an overview at club racing not S1 or long circuit racing,Very few officials break even let alone make a profit over a years race meetings and no one ever tried to corrupt me in all the years that I have been involved in karting (1963-2016).
