maybe it was cheaper but you have to be realistic in what they are trying to achieve and the costs involved in doing something like this.

The karts were all brand new,
Brand new engines
Brand new awnings
Alpha timing system
Development of the database scanning system
Sky sports tv crew
Employment of staff
Expenses of staff
Clothing
Logistics and transportation of equipment
Track hire for 4 days
Entertainment
Prize fund (very impressive)
Advertising and autosport show etc
Rebuilds of motors
Replacement parts for component failure
All fuel and oil supplied for the whole weekend with proper fuel crew to keep check
5 sets of tyres per competitor every round

When you sit back and look at it all there's not a lot of money being made out of the charge to try the series. Infact I bet it's a lose.
2 out of the 4 that tried it at nutts corner have signed up for the rest of the year and everyone else in the series sees the value.

Ofcors it's not for everyone but there's no other series on proper race karts with the checks and control on fairness With identical equipment which Means it just comes down to driver and setup. I know it works as my cadet driver can compete at fks while at lgm he struggles due to equipment. Not that I'm saying other series are at fault as I love LGM it's just different concept and not directly comparable.

Fuel is all parc feme and tanks are left with one crew
There's no fairer series for drivers if that's your thing.

Kartmasters is a great event but very different to fks. With different aims. One is driver focused the other is more traditional Motorsport with mechanical advantages being acceptable etc.
