It‘s unusual for me to correct Simon, but rule 5 includes the following:

"Data logged evidence, video and other photographic evidence may be considered by Clerks of the Course, Stewards or the National Court , providing they are satisfied as to its authenticity, and in all circumstances at their sole discretion"

This "discretion" doesn‘t apply when someone issues a protest, as that person is ENTITLED to have their say, which may include reference to video / photo footage.

You will find CoC that aren‘t aware of this, but in general the MSA Steward normally has wider motorsport experience and will accept it (in preference to witness statements).

If you submit the file quickly on SD Card or similar then there is little chance of there being any tampering, though I‘m no expert. The risk of tampering affects any sort of evidence - ultimately the rules are written to be "on the balance of probability" rather than "beyond all reasonable doubt", though this isn‘t stated explicitly.

I don‘t think the ABkC have handled the PR on this one well, as this set of regulations just seems to clarify things where the use of cameras has been authorised. You can submit footage as evidence without it having been fitted to a kart.
