Apparently it is due to the tyre construction and rotational dynamic loads. What is strange is that both front and rear tyres have the same construction yet the load on each differs especially where front brakes are used unless the construction design is to support the tyre when in the correct rotation direction as it could be argued that the dynamic load is trying to separate the beads when rotating in a direction it was not designed for. its a bit like a Chinese finger puzzle pull on it and it tightens yet push and its free.
