Great meeting at Llandow at the weekend and I must say made all the better by the commentator. That made a big difference to the day for me anyway. It was good to hear how the other races were going.

The meeting was well run and I must say the Clerk of the day for the MSA was very good IMHO. I do like the MSA scrutineers making sure everything is above board.

Sometimes you think it is going a bit far when millimeters or fractions of a kilo create an exclusion but actually the rules are the rules and that is why we have MSA events.

Is there a case for having some discretion by scrutineers on a race day when things are very close in the scrutineering bay and they don't really create a big performance difference. e.g. fix it for the next heat/final and don't do it again.

Or does that defeat the whole object of having hard limits to work to? And possible put the scrutineers in a difficult position. Much easier for them if it is clear cut.

I think it is probably the latter. We had an exclusion and would have preferred a "fix for the next heat warning" :-) but fully understood the decision made.
