i'm sorry i couldnt disagree more; what a perverted view of the sport."paying good drivers to give an advantage detracts from the technical part" ???. you waht?! perhaps get rid of drivers altoghether. im aware the active benetton was quite capable of lapping quickly enough to qualify for the british gp back in the 90's enttirely driverless..safer too.i thought it was primarily to establish a "world champion." that being a human not a piece of machinery. amongst the armchair cogniesenti, i would bet a large amount will remember the names of clark, mansell, schumacher, senna et al, but very few what they drove.i love to watch RACERS, thats why i like hamiltons breathtaking manouvres. heaven forbid the day people gawp and cry "LOOK at the downforce on THAT!" i disagree that a true drivers series can only ever be one make; what about the DFV days when a hesketh/wolf or whoever could build a car (ONE car note, no need for unnecessary and prohibitively expensive two car teams squeezing out the minnions) and go and win races. just ask the people who worked for tyrell, chapman or williams
