Tut, tut!

Don't you know that any excuse to blame the MSA is fair game when you want to run karting your own way? It's simply politics, relying on the indiscriminate to support your point of view whether or not it is based in fact.

One sees it all the time in mainstream politics, for example in the current 'immigration' debate or the continual "EU telling us what to do" point scoring: Clue: The recent EU Vacuum Cleaner directive merely set a standard for testing vacuum cleaners, which measured efficiency. Since Britain has a manufacturer of vacuum cleaners with 'efficient, computer controlled motor' you can expect the Office of Trading Standards to set the same test, whether or not Britain is in the EU. But then it will be "the Government"( which introduced and backed the EU legislation in order to support British interests) acceding to "Which" magazine's common sense, won't it?

So rationality has little to do with it, point scoring and politics is all. It is accepted by some within the MSA that the sport is being bent out of shape to fit the demands of less than 10% of all karters for those with vested interests in championship and international standards. Unfortunately the organisation, as it stands, gives those interests an overwhelming vote in the committees that advise the MSA and bind it by their decisions.

That's politics. Does IKR represent the UKIP of karting? Probably. Just like UKIP they will make great and undeliverable promises that will fade in the face of reality, the problem being not their promises but those who believe them unreservedly.
