I have to admit I do not know anything about ports wearing by gas flow so I will bow to you on that one. However we have had one of our engines since we started in 1992 and if wear to ports is an issue perhaps we should have a problem by now. Cranks and conrods have come and gone but the barrel is still good.

If you have an engine with poor ports then no matter how good the engine builder is you are never going to have a competitive motor.

In the mid 90s one father who was prominent in the kart trade allegedly bought 80 engines to get 3 good ones for his son. So guess where the other 77 went. Lots of disillusioned racers gave up because those few good engines moved around among those with money or stayed in the trade.
