For the sake of bad rules we have lost 3 people and maybe an engine tuner who was maybe doing drivers a service by bringing their poor tkms up to a standard to compete.
Take a step back and look at things logically.
Dave buys an engine from talko and it has perfect piston size, ports etc. all within fiche. A fiche laid out by talko themselves
James walks in buys an engine at the same time from talko and the piston is a bit longer and the ports are not as ideal.
Both paid £1000
Both race each other at rissy S1 It's clear James is down on power. He then has to hire a motor at more expense £250 to compete.
On Monday James buys another motor from talko....it's still not as perfect as the motor Dave brought. So now his £1250 worse off than Dave and still has to spend out on another motor.....
In comes Engine tuner Harry a man of knowledge who can tune a motor as he used to tune back in the formula A days. He can turn James motors into decent motors still within fiche for £300. James accepts. He goes to pfi a month later and has a really good race. On equal terms. James is happy.
But wait.... What's this. The scrutineer measures everything. Finds it is in spec...but wait have you modified this......yes says James. But it's within fiche and within what talko could produce themselves.
We can't have that says the scrutineer your a cheat.
But why? It's within spec and potentially what the manufacture can produce?
So now people get upset and leave karting, championships and hard work are wasted.....over what? The christodulu thing was cheating....this latest isn't really. Everyone bangs on about level playing fields etc....but in reality they just want to capitalise on a bit of purchasing luck and not let others who haven't been so lucky to come up to spec at a reasonable cost.
So maybe before saying this Builder is so bad. Take a step back and view it with a bit of rational thought. There's too many rubbish rules in karting.
Dsg and everyone involved are victims of the poor system commercial classes represent. They try to promote a level playing field....but in reality don't.....
