As many will be aware Fulbeck are running both MSA and Non MSA meetings. The Non MSA seems to be going very well and is great value at £50 for the whole weekend. It also makes for easy entry to karting but still controlled to a sensible level on safty grounds.
The Non MSA is run on the 3rd weekend of the month with MSA on the forth weekend. Unfortunately the Non MSA 3rd weekend clashes every month with Woodthorpe Non MSA kart club. Woodthorpe is a long establish and very well run Non MSA club. But with the clash entry numbers will suffer. In fact the success of both Non MSA clubs will be affected. I'm sure most entries would run at both clubs if they were on different weekends. I understand the 3rd weekend for Non MSA at Fulbeck was selected as many of the support staff officiate at PFI first weekend, Wombwell 2nd weekend and Fulbeck MSA 4th weekend. But there is also a rumour that Fulbeck are considering swapping the Non MSA weekend for the MSA weekend - i.e MSA third weekend and Non MSA 4th weekend. But this can't be done until a new season due to MSA rules which is understandable. BUT Many will hope this plan will go ahead for 2015 for the benefit of both clubs - please go for this Fulbeck- numbers would be higher at both and people get to race two weekends at Non MSA locally or even 3 if they raced at Tattershall on the 2nd weekend which I understand is also thriving! This has got to be a message to MSA - Non MSA is thriving, people want cheap racing without difficult entry costs, but also still controlled.
Another positive at Woodthrope is a thriving Rotax heavies class after raising the weight from MSA 177KG to 185KG, Fulbeck Non MSA are listing the same - it pulls in us old fat dads! And allows us to appreciate what our sons / daughters really do go through to race fast - it's not that easy!! Why not raise the weight to cover more heavy people whom don't want to spend a fortune building a carbon clad kart and /or spend an inordinate amount of time and effort getting down to a lower body weight.
