Your engine will have a crank position sensor somewhere on the engine so your choices for fitting an external limiter are either the coil input from the ECU or the crank position sensor output.

The crank position sensor signal will be quite low and the coil input will probably be quite a bit higher.

What's your reason for wanting to limit the revs, couldn't you adjust the throttle stop if it's for engine preservation?
