They won't though, will they? They will be out at tracks that will run a round of the series competing against the clubbies as a way to get experience on that track.
And, yes, the worse ones will be busy punting the clubbies because either:
a) they have been told to do it that way, or
b) drivers with as much track time as they have can take the contact, so if a clubby goes into the tires it's the clubby's fault or
c) they were expecting the driver to drive as if they too had unlimited track time so it was an 'honest' mistake, they really didn't expect the clubby to brake there or
d) they are simply retaliating because a clubby ran into them and it must have been deliberate.
One has to admit it is brilliant advertising for the X30, and might swell the numbers sold (the engines for the series may be pooled, but you will need at least three or four to practice with) and will probably pay for itself in those sales even if the series falls flat on its nose.
Also, as with any class, when the money starts chasing the engines, ways will be found to make certain engines more desirable to buy than others. One will, of course, absolutely need one of those engines to win (as though the ability to spend over £10k a year on transport, practice fees and race entries alone won't have had anything to do with the engine's reputation).
