With the fee at Ł110 you need to have good evidence before lodging a protest otherwise your money is at risk. Ł20 may not be enough of a deterrent against frivolous protests.
Bear in mind that you have 30 minutes after the race (publication of results?) to lodge your protest. If it is upheld the the other driver has 30 minutes to lodge an appeal to the stewards and can then both sides get a further 30 minutes to lodge an appeal against the steward's decision.
What happens to racing for that class whilst all this happens?
There was a case in a national championship where the final on Saturday had to be postponed until the Sunday morning because a parent was going through every appeal possible (lost them all).
