You are not on your own Dogman my original post was intended to get other and varied peoples point of view and experiences and your is not unique.
I suppose the MSA official who said this to you would have said the same in his evidence at the coroners’ court hearing had your lad been flipped and killed.
If the lad behind was much faster, he should have been experienced enough to know where go, to avoid the collision, and in every type of motor sport it is the persons who is doing the passing who is responsible for the manoeuvre not the person being passed. Instead the experienced driver is simply experienced enough to know that NOTHING will be done if he simply rammed your kid out of the way!
Is it I wonder, a defence for the fast lad to say that although he was going fast enough to fire your lad off that he could not see the collision unfolding? If the worst did happen and a court decided that it was reasonable for the driver to have avoided the collision, and your kid had been killed! Then collision was premeditated and therefore murder and not manslaughter.
The reality is that even in the Cadets, the kids are doing 55 or even 60 mph at the likes of Wigan, Rowrah, Shenny, PFI, on a good day. If things don’t improve it’s only a matter of time before the worst happens, its when not if!
