Totally incorrect. The rules are pretty clear - it states that you are not allowed to put a wheel beyond the OUTER limit of a kerb, or beyond a white line where there is NO kerb. See below for clarity. This means that the kerbs are there to be used but not abused, so long as you wheel/s do not travel beyond that outer point of the kerb(I.e where the kerb becomes grass/run off etc)
14.4.2 Drivers must use the track at all times and may not leave the track without justifiable reason. For the avoidance of doubt: (a)The white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track (b)A driver will be judged to have left the track if any wheel of the car either goes beyond the outer edge of any kerb or goes beyond the white line where there is no kerb
