I dont think what you've described regarding billies is illegal in msa racing. I think you'd have to be nuts to do it though, which is probably why I've never seen anyone doing so.

In all walks of life, not just karting, people apply rules sensibly, enforcing them strictly where appropriate and turning a blind eye where it is sensible. Want to smoke cannabis in your living room? Go ahead but do it in public and expect to get your collar felt. I think you've tried very hard to find a fault and have grasped the tiniest thing you could. What do you think of the tyre rules? Great huh? People will save hundreds of pounds. I think the judicial procedure is great too, don't you?

On your sensible question, yes of course you can buy Duros for use in practice or you can practice on your race tyres. I'm a tight wad so I will probably choose the latter option.
