I agree that running a different tyre size is called 'stagger' by the Americans ..... but so is the biased weight distribution.

It's possible I am remembering an old usage of the word because I spoke to Colin Chapman (Lotus) at dinner one evening about this years ago and that was the word Harley Copp and Colin used to describe the spectacular, biased suspension on the Lotus 38.
