Maybe my initial question should have been worded differently – I was looking for thoughts on the series/championship as a whole, not specifically the Formula Blue class. Pointing out that the majority of the rounds are at Three Sisters was for the benefit of all cadet, TKM and Rotax drivers there, not a recommendation of “here’s a title if you want it”!

If we can put personal agendas and Northern politics aside for a moment (that includes the O Plate that ended up being at Dunkeswell in ’12 – I wasn’t involved in the North then, didn’t race in the event and don’t know what went on beforehand, however the fact that MBKC hosted the event last year and are still involved with NKRA this year would indicate to me that they at least must have got over it), let’s look at Formula Blue if we must again.

Pretty much very class in karting these days is controlled by a commercial interest who might be one or many out of the importer, seller of spares, controller of the series, eligibility gurus, rule changers in season (Tal-Ko have been with TKM) with a man in charge. Inevitably, this person or people will struggle to please everyone... or might find it easier to please people in one region...?

The starters on the Lynxs are a bit on the fragile side but can be looked after and in my experience suffer no more issues than the TKM ones – legacy of no balance gear I guess. There have been some issues with stators I know though I don’t know how a warranty might work with a Selettra component through IAME – one area to ask questions in though. What wears out quicker than genuine IAME parts, and in fact, why would that be a surprise?!

To go back to my original question really, UK karting is apparently heading for a substantial pruning in 2017. Is a championship with a Regional base rather than only club events and nationwide championships something drivers want and if not, why not?
