Why don't you come down to Shenington tomorrow or maybe Kimbolton next month. I'm there with my son we went straight into TKM without progressing from Cadet and haven't looked back.
There is a full gris of juniors there ranging in ability, Spellfame are there so talk to Richard Lloyd or Mark Allen of Jade Karts, Dave Litchfield or dean Golba of DSG. We'll all tell you the same thing. Its a cracking class, growing with already established grids. cost isn't massive, tyres can last 3 or 4 meetings including practice.
The only full grid of new tyres i have ever seen is at S1, Festival or 0 plate... Rotax are every club meeting.
If you do come down come and say hello were Junior #10.. I'll even let you try push starting his kart...you'll be surprised how easy it really is!
