To be fair the Whilton the did try out the Alpha timing systems- They have TAG timing installed for the hire karts so I guess it is no extra cost to them.
But the transponder is just an aid for the time keeper nothing more, the yellow transponders do that job. Why should we pay smart phone prices for a Ł20 box of electronics?
