Last time a TKM was there (racing) lap times were in the 37's. Not that I felt we couldn't have gone quicker, but the aim of the day was to get hours on the motor so can totally see a 36's on the cards.

I'm not going to pretend to be an engine builder, I drive. From a driver with your experience, I'm surprised if you can't feel the tightness of an engine after a rebuild. An engine isn't at it's best until its done a couple hours. Even if you can't feel it, put an engine on the dyno directly after a rebuild and the same engine on the same dyno after its done a couple of hours. Last time I did that, it was up .75hp all the way through the power curve. That's pretty difficult to explain.

I'd say arguing with the best TKM engine builder in the country about the same topic might be a bit difficult too.

Pretty sure the engines are not slow. Not been in a kart over a year (apart from the day at Rye) so I'm not going to say how I'll do, but I'm sure my lap times at the TKM festival will be pretty competitive.
