Hi all I have recently "upgraded" from a zip storm to a zip lightning and we've gone backwards. My lad has been making steady progress since he started driving a zip storm a year ago aged 7 1/2 and now we've started racing I thought I'd buy him a new chassis. The problem is I used the storm settings as a starting point and evidently the lightning has a lot more front end which I reckon requires a much smoother steering input than the storm. The resulting oversteer has hit his confidence to the point that he is now 2 seconds a lap slower on the lightning. I have a few questions. I have taken a load of front end off to try to get him to drive it more confidently but he is only 8 1/2 years old and at times awkward.

1. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
2. Should I persevere with the new chassis and work on his driving or revert to what he knows and let him find his old pace again?
3. Is it possible that the storm might suit some drivers better than the lightning due to the different handling characteristics or is it that my lad is too aggressive and the lightning really is (insert lap time difference here) faster than the storm but my lad doesn't drive smoothly enough to find those gains and the storm is encouraging him to drive sloppy?
