A theoretical question on gearing !
If you started with an 11 tooth front sprocket and an 83 rear sprocket, tested the engine on a dyno and recorded the maximum torque and HP output and their relevant position on the 'rev curve', and then altered the front sprocket to a ten tooth and used a suitable rear sprocket to maintain the same overall gear ratio and repeated the dyno run, what would be the expected effect on the values of and the likely positions of the maximum torque and HP output ?
ie would the maximum torque increase / decrease and would the position on the curve of maximum torque and HP output increase or decrease ?
What is the likely effect on the feel of the engine ie would it be better / worse off the corners or rev higher / more easily at higher speeds ?
Trying to wrap my head around this one and getting nowhere fast !!!
