My lad suffered a serious wrist injury in a practice day incident last year when one kart felt that he had been wronged by another driver, slowed down and waved the purported offending kart through and then turned into it causing that kart to spin into my lads kart putting him into a tyre wall at full speed. A fractured wrist and dislocation resulting in an operation, plaster, subsequent time off to recover, further visits to hospital due to post concussion syndrome and a lot of worry by the parents followed. My lad was a victim of idiotic driving and the whole incident knocked his confidence to the extent that he wanted to quit. Nothing was done about the incident as it was a practice day despite many witnesses seeing what had occurred. The club were great but basically couldn't do anything as the marshall's did not see the incident. There really is no place in karting for contact whether it is loading up or a deliberate turn in. There is no excuse for it. Accidental injuries are unavoidable and go with the territory however deliberate collisions to cause someone to come off should not go unpunished especially if there is found to be intent on the part of the driver.
