We reduced the weight of a ZIP Lightnig by over 4kg. You have to be ruthless with the kart.

First thing you need is an angle grinder (not joking). All the shiny bits have excess tube that can be cut shorter. Replace all brackets with lighter versions. Cut down the width of the nassau panel, you can take some off each side. Replace all bolts for aircraft grade ali bolts of the right length (They are just as strong). Chop jumps of your engine mount (I grinded off 200g). Use carbon bits where allowed (we used a carbon chain guard & brackets). Lighter steering wheel, Lighter rims. Weight race clothing and find lighter ones. and so on. You can save weight on almost everything.

Or buy a Shark and put off the above until next year.
