I might be completely wrong Mark but I thought the 30/100 rating related to milli-amps, not milli-seconds, i.e. the amout of earth leakage it allows before tripping. We use inverters at work that are electrically quite "noisy". connected one to a 30mA rcd always causes it to nuisance trip. A 100mA rcd is fine though.
