I think this is really useful information for anyone starting in karting and not from a motor racing background either and possibly on average income. Going back a couple of years when we started in karting, I did think that after buying the kart and clothing there weren't that many overheads. However, our first season cost around £4.5k and in reality I could only afford £2.5k. This was a tough learning curve for us. However once you understand the costs, then you are more easily able to manage the situation. So this year, our spend management has been better and we can have the traditional festive bird on the table rather than the road kill surprise we had in 2011 :)
