If you are planning to race then you will need a transponder - most tracks still use the AMB160 but it is possible that a few may look at the Tag Huer system in the future (as used in S1).

A Mychron or Alfano is useful for collecting test data ut this is not essential when starting out.

later on, a camera can be useful for reviewing racing lines and varaiances between laps. Go pros are great but some of the `spy cameras' you can pick up for Ł15 or so.
