My opinion on carbs is once set up you should only need minor adjustments on the day and I only use to rekit my tryton with an engine rebuild and it never missed a beat once I had blown all the swarf out once purchased.

I never used to pay much attention to engine temp either and once my engine temp sensor broke I never replaced it. I was always taught that if the carbs set up reasonably well and the engine is built well and maintained well the temp will take care of itself.

This approach worked very well for us when we where in cadets for reliability and good results however we only ever had one carb and engine so where looking for reliability as well as decent performance rather than trying to get the final bit out the carb at the cost of reliability.
