i am not a 2 or 4 stroke fan, we are switching to 2/ next year because of driving reasons, but i remember from my motocross days all the wailing and nashing of teeth when the 4/ were introduced, too slow too heavy ,too much torque etc, now ? can't remember the last time i heard one in motocross! i also believe the 500 2/ is still allowed in motogp, but within 6 months of the 4/ coming in 10 years ago no-one was using one,the 4/ motogp bike with 80hp more power is more usable, more controlable ,better on tyres, better on fuel, sounds better, every time honda spent a fortune on giving mick doohan more power he asked them to take it back because it went slower, 500 2/ stood still for over 10 years . maybe, just maybe karts are at the same point ? in this years 125 british championships all but one bike is a 2/ the one other is a 250 4/ mainly due to cost and it is new at the moment, but next year probably half will be 4/ ,one will win it and after that all will be 4/ the 4/ will allow tracks to be open more due to lower noise and emissions, give longer races because they use tyres better and are more reliable, they use less fuel, have longer service intervals, it might also invite the japaneese to develop even more engines all within the same regs and give the driver a choice of engines all usable in the same class ? personally i hope they come in before we get out of cadet !
