You're still surprised that politicians dont always stick by what they say? This isnt the first time anyone has been caught out, and it wont be the last - they all do it.

Lets face it, politicians are just charasmatic people who can spin whatever their advisors want to do in a positive light. Brown wanted a catchy headline to highlight the economic success (at the time) and went for "no more boom and bust" - did he really believe that? I highly doubt it.
