Right, my mate and I are really good with each other. We met at the track as we both started racing together but as we admit, we're competitive. Although, he admits that Im a more confident driver than he is and more likely to take risks. Anyway, we did a few endurance races together, then we moved to some sprints at Warden Law, Whilton Mill, and PFI. I have always been at least 0.3s faster than him in the dry, and at least 1 second a lap faster in the wet.

We're buying two more karts though now, we're considering either the Rotax route, or the KZ2 karts. We are doing this because, the money spent being competitive in a prokart is ridiculous, and because they are generator engines, they are wildly different. I can race on a 4 year old chassis, with out of the box engines and old tyres, no perfect set up, and Im around 1s off the fastest boys out there. This is competing against people with the latest chassis, perfect setup, new tyres and selected parts engines, whereas if we both get 'tuned' Rotax engines for instance, one would hope that they would be very close performance wise. Im not saying that I can compete in Rotax for any less, but I believe that due to the nature of the components and engines, that with the same budget, I will be closer to the pace in a Rotax.

I personally prefer the thought of KZ2, are there any grids for these? Will me and my friend still be as close on the faster karts, or will it be a complete different ball game?
