I agree something needs to be done and as has been said before Kimbolton do suffer the problem more than some tracks possibly because of the long straight run to the first corner.

On Sunday I watched several races from the Willows opposite the start line and in many cases drivers were being loaded up from 10 yards before the start line all the way to the breaking point at turn 1, not really surprising when it ends up in a multi kart pile up at T1.

The idea of a gap seems sensible and could be policed using the timing system. The downside to this is if a driver on the outside sees a kart size gap and decides this is his chance to get to the inside for the first corner he is more likely to do a swift right turn which could result an equally large pile up.From experience the magnitude of a front & rear corner to corner crash flat out is likely to cause more carnage and more importantly damage than the loaded up karts tangling in the breaking zone.

I suppose the answer probably depends on the track, I have read the suggestion about Kim shortening the run to T1 by moving the start line closer at this on the face of it sounds worth trying however at Rissy which also suffers it’s fair share of T1 accidents I have heard people suggesting moving the start line further away from T1 would help as drivers would get more time to sort themselves out before they have to file into the corner.

No easy answer but I am sure the clubs could look at trying some of this type of suggestions and if possible share their results with other circuits to try and define which IF ANY of these solutions will work.
