well it depends what you are asking for 1)
if you think of a substance that is near vapour state at room temp then it is very easy to compress into a liquid. this would be much more compressible than air.
you have to consider the inter molecular forces for each substance
thermo-dynamics shows that temperature/pressure/volume/ke all play a part
2) im not sure what the main mode of heat xfer is. conduction to the rim, conduction to the track, convection to the air then conduction then covection to the rim or convection to the air then mass transport then convection to the rim. maybe there is a fair amount of windage heating my the air itself?
you have to remember the solar radiation input also
you only have the pressure to play with tho
i very much doubt ill be buying helium
