Welcome back Ian, we really have missed your CAPSLOCK :) However ...
It seems you've been sucked into the assumption of other posters that 177racer is a kart tart and wishes to recoat his chassis in some lurid colour to match his new race suit and helmet paint job. He has not indicated this in his post, ONLY that he wishes to remove the existing coating.
There may be several reasons for this, including: saving a bit of weight to GO FASTER! He may simply wish to have a bare chassis in order to check for damage, cracks or previous repairs (in order to apply any remedial action to GO FASTER!).
We should not , therefore, offer answers to an unasked question.
Hope you have a really good new year with a little time to pop up on here occasionally.
