This gives as good a description of how to set up your front end as any.

http://www.lebkart.com/Downloads/Front%20End%20Geometry.pdf

However, there are some things to check before you start.

1) are the rear rims the same size? I once mixed two rims of different widths, which made the kart very twitchy.

2) Are the rear wheels the same size. it is not unusual to find that the circumference of the rear wheels is different. More than about 1 cm difference can give you problems.

3) Is the chassis bent, have you measured the diagonals. If the front wheels aren't going in the same direction as the front wheels or aren't following the front wheels, then you may have difficulty steering.

If you have not measured up the chassis recently, then do so,

4) The floor tray and rear bumper can affect the handling of the chassis. If you have a metal bumper and it has been bent, it is the same as if you had fitted an extra torsion bar.

Once you have checked your chassis is straight and checked the floor tray and bumper are free (but secure) then set the front end up according to the guide.

If you have got them or can borrow them, use a laser with the driver in the kart.
