This weekend in the final my son was involved in an accident on the first lap that brought out a red flag. Although he was fit to race we were told he could not take the restart. The race was rerun and he was classified as a DNS (no championship points!).
By my understanding these are the rules - fair enough.
But... At the same track two months ago, a sudden shower of rain 2 laps into the final put 4 or 5 karts into the tyre wall. The race was red flagged and rerun later in the day so everyone could change over to a wet setup (the original grid was a mix of wet and slick tyres as until that point the track had been drying). The drivers who ended up in the wall were allowed to retake the start.
Can someone please explain the difference between these two events as it smacks of inconsistency to me.
