Who do you think should be looking at this wider gene pool for the stars of the future?
we have two MSA British championships for the younger drivers - Comer Cadet and KF3 but you could also become a British/UK/National champion in honda cadet, wtp cadet and easykart cadet and the junior TKM, Junior Rotax, Junior Easykart , Formula Blue and probably some others that I do not hear about.
With Eassykart there is also a European Championship and World Championship and Rotax also has the european events. lots of choice and not all as expensive as the MSA championships.
So there are planty of opportunities to show your skills without spending a fortune.
When you want to progress and have the chance of being `spotted' then you need to look at competing in european series and then the costs can go even higher.
For professional race teams there is a natural sifting process through KF3, KF2 and KF1 where talented drivers, usually with good financial backing, will come through the ranks. Lots of equally talented but cash strapped drivers will fall by the wayside but there will be enough left to keep their series alive and well.
If you were looking to go from karting through to F1 then a budget of between Ł5m and Ł10m would probably be more realistic than your Ł2m. Motorsport is expensive so you either enjoy it as a sport or find lots of cash.
I bet most other sports also involve a lot of cost to get to the top. I doubt if a swimmer at Olympic level got there just on a few pairs of Speedos and a daily spell in their local pool.
